We've all been there, arriving at a restaurant starving and desperate to eat, scanning the menu for something to order.

Well the diners from around the world who picked up these menus got more than they bargained for, thanks to some hilarious language mistakes, and typos.

Among these side splitting photos, which were collated into a gallery by failblog, is one which shows a menu featuring kid's fingers.

Those partial to a moan may be less amused by a drinks menu, boasting a long list of white 'whine'.

Meanwhile, another restauranteur was surely left wishing they had proofread more carefully, when they noticed they were trying to sell chicken with aromatic herpes (shouldn't that be....herbs?).

This disconcertingly vague dish, at a restaurant thought to be in Canada, features a combination of pork blood and another unidentified ingredient

However, while it is easy to see what's gone wrong when it comes to these kinds of typos, other menu mistakes are simply inexplicable.

Take, for example, one Chinese restaurant which offers patrons a choice of various 'bacteria mushrooms' - no thanks.

Here, FEMAIL shares some of the funniest ever menu mistakes from around the world...

VIAGRA PIZZA: 레비트라처방 Ok, it's not a speciality we've heard of before, but experimental cuisine can be interesting, so perhaps this Italian eatery should be applauded

The spelling mistake on this drink menu, 씨알리스정 at a bar thought to be in Europe, could be a little near to the knuckle for those who truly do want a wine and a whine

What kind of creepy eatery is this? Kids fingers? No thank you. Not that the other options look much better either

The choices here are not looking too good - it's come down to either the painful wiener or the 'cheese on the burnt potato'

Hmmm...would there be any chance of ordering something that is less proactively full of bacteria, please?

When you rock up to a restaurant for its famous wrinkled popes, but end up staying for the chipses special

It's always good to keep an open mind when travelling to new countries, so you can sample new delicacies, but somehow the freshly squeezed juice organs on offer at this establishment thought to be in Germany, just doesn't appeal

This eatery offers a slightly limited menu of small or larges wages, with or without cheese. Ok then...

Lest you ever forget how important it is to proofread, remember this menu at a restaurant believed to be in Italy, offering chicken with aromatic herpes

Would it be a stupid question to ask whether or not the stupid questions is a tasty dish? For $0.38, it is a bargain at least at this North American diner

They say that restauranteurs can be dishonest, and hide the less savoury aspects of the business from the dining public. Not these guys - they are VERY open about their ingredients, even the disgusting ones like hormones and spit
